Kids Dance Classes

Our Kids Dance Classes continue to grow & include all ages and just about any style of dance you can imagine. If you have any questions about any of these class descriptions, please call the studio at (916) 419-7079.

Creative Movement 1 & 2:
Age Recommendation: 2 1/2 to 4 years old
Duration: 45 minutes

While we “leap like frogs”, “hop like bunnies” and “spin like helicopters”, large motor skills, strength and coordination are being developed. Our youngest dancers learn the fundamentals of basic ballet/jazz/tap and even a little hip hop in a “creative setting”. Creative Movement dancers should wear comfortable dance clothes in any black/pink combination (please, no dress up clothes allowed)
Ballet shoes and tap shoes are required.

Ballet/Tap Combo 1:
Age Recommendation: 4-7 years old
Duration: 45 minutes

This is a pre-ballet & tap class for our younger dancers.  Dancers use their imagination dancing with props and learning proper feet positioning. Dancers are requested to wear any pink/black combination of dance clothes. Ballet shoes and tap shoes are required.  
    

Ballet/Tap Combo 2:
 
Age Recommendation: 4-7 years old
Duration: 45 minutes

Dancers have been in the ballet/tap combo classes for 2+ years. Dancers will be perfecting their ballet/tap technique and also learning performance combinations. We request dancers wear any combination of pink/black dance clothes. Hair must be worn up and out of face. Ballet shoes and tap shoes are required. 

Ballet 1:
 
Age Recommendation: 5-7 years old
Duration: 60 minutes

Dancers warm up, stretch at the barre, learn across the floor and perform ballet combinations. We request dancers wear any combination of pink/black dance leotard/tights.  Hair must be worn in a bun or up and out of face. Ballet shoes are required.

Ballet 2: 
Age Recommendation: 7+ years old
Duration: 60 minutes
Ballet Dancers must have completed Ballet 1.  Dancers warm up, stretch at the barre, learn across the floor and perform ballet combinations with emphasis on technique.  We request dancers wear any combination of pink/black dance leotard/tights.  Hair must be worn in a bun or up and out of face. Ballet shoes are required.

Ballet 3: 
Age Recommendation: 9+ years old OR 3 years of ballet training
Duration: 60 minutes

This one-hour class is dedicated to our more advanced ballet dancers. Dancers warm up, stretch at the barre, learn across the floor and perform ballet combinations. Technique and skill are at an advanced level.  We request dancers wear any combination of pink/black dance leotard/tights.  Hair must be worn in a bun or up and out of face. Ballet shoes are required.

Jazz 1:
Age Recommendation: 5-7 years old
Duration: 60 minutes

A fun-filled beginner class with focus on jazz routines. Dancers warm up, stretch, learn across the floor and performance jazz combinations. Dancers may wear any color dance clothes. Hair must be worn in a bun or up and out of face. Jazz shoes are required.

Jazz 2:
Age Recommendation: 5-7 years old
Duration: 60 minutes

An intermediate class with emphasis on jazz techniques.  Dancers warm up, stretch, learn across the floor and performance jazz combinations.  
Dancers may wear any color dance clothes. Hair must be worn in a bun or up and out of face. Jazz shoes are required.

Contemporary 1: 
Age Recommendation: 6+ years old
Duration: 60 minutes
Prerequisite: 2 years of classical ballet
This modern dance class mixes jazz technique with innovative new age contemporary tricks and choreography. Together, we work on modern fluidity and staccato and intricate movements within our dancing. Every student has the chance to find their own style of dancing through improvisation exercises. 
Jazz shoes are required.

Contemporary 2: 
Age Recommendation: 8+ years old
Duration: 60 minutes
Prerequisite: 2 years of classical ballet
This next-level class mixes jazz technique with innovative new age contemporary tricks and choreography. Focus is on technique and interpretation.  Together, we work on modern fluidity and staccato and intricate movements within our dancing. Every student has the chance to find their own style of dancing through improvisation exercises. 
Jazz shoes are required.

Pee-Wee Hip Hop:
Age Recommendation:  3-6 years old  
Duration:  45 minutes
This class is designed for our younger dancers with interest in hip hop. 
Dancers are required to wear loose clothing that will not restrict movement. No skirts or dresses please. Clean soled tennis shoes or dance sneakers are required.

Hip Hop - Beginning & Advanced: 
Age Recommendation:  6+ years old
Duration:  45 minutes
Fun hip hop dance choreography for those  Focus is on the latest dance trends and moves in hip hop.  We offer beginning and advanced hip hop classes.  Dancers are required to wear loose clothing that will not restrict movement. No skirts or dresses please.   Clean soled tennis shoes or dance sneakers are required.

Variety Arts 1: 
Age Recommendation:  6+ years old
Duration:  45 minutes
This is a class that fuses jazz dance with acting. Dancers in this class learn and perform many dances and combinations ranging from swing to samba along with jazz technique.  We focus on strengthening the dancers’ characters that they play. 

Variety Arts 2:
Age  Recommendation:  8+ years old
Duration:  45 minutes

This is a higher level of our Variety Arts class that fuses jazz dance with acting. This class also learns and performs many dances and combinations ranging from swing to samba along with jazz technique.  We focus on strengthening the dancers’ characters that they play.

Pre-Pointe Ballet:
Duration:  60 minutes
This is an hour long class we offer to our aspiring ballerinas separate from regular ballet technique to assure they are ready for pointe. This class allows us ample time to help students build the strength and alignment necessary for pointe work. It also helps assess readiness which lessons the risk of injury once students move up to pointe. We work slowly, but efficiently with our kids so they don't develop bad habits while focusing on proper technique.

Bootcamp:
An amazing class that uses balls, bands and your own body strength for a challenging and highly effective total body workout! Great for all levels of fitness, age, male or female! This class is designed to cater to each individual’s goals and limits while all the participants motivate each other and have a blast! HooRah!

Balletone®: (RETURNING SOON)
Balletone® Standing Flow is an upbeat fusion-style conditioning class designed especially for the non-dancer. It creates a challenging mix of muscle conditioning, stretching and cardio exercises and is designed to intensely develop core strength, muscular endurance and dynamic balance & flexibility without the use of equipment or props. Balletone® keeps you moving, motivated and mentally focused with a fun and effective workout that will lengthen, strengthen and energize the entire body leaving no muscle untouched!

Adult Jazz:
Have fun and get an involuntary workout while finding and releasing your inner dancer during our adult jazz class! Everyone is welcome - Dancers and Non-Dancers alike!
